If you are a young woman living with breast cancer, we invite you to be part of a research study involving coping skills and counselor-led online support groups. You will have the opportunity to strengthen coping skills and may join others and a counselor online. Learning topics include ways of thinking, problem solving, goal setting, communication, relaxation, healthy sexuality and lifestyle..
Who:
Women 50 years and under, within 3 years of a breast cancer diagnosis.
What:
Participants will be selected by chance to join one of two groups:
- self directed at home coping skills program (1.5 hours a week)
- self directed at home coping skills program plus 10 week online support group chat with a counselor (3 hours a week)
Where:
In your own home, or where you have access to a computer.
When:
We are now recruiting participants for the study and dates will be offered over two years. Afternoon (1:00 – 2:30 pm) or evening groups (6:00 – 7:30 pm) will be offered.
Why:
Getting back to life after breast cancer treatment can be challenging. Younger women have special concerns and can benefit from sharing experiences and strengthening their coping skills.
